The developers that are petitioning to develop Eastwood golf course land had made a claim of “by right” development. That is why there has been a rumor that this is a “done deal.” What “by right” means is that the planned development (PD) was approved for up to an additional 304 homes, so he’s claiming that “by right” he already has approval to build these homes. The good news, however, is that the Orange County Development Review committee has declared the proposal to be a Substantial Change. This means that the Orange County Board of County Commissioners would need to approve any development of the Eastwood golf course property. To date, the BOCC has not agreed to allow further development. We need to make clear to the BOCC that we oppose any and all development of Eastwood property and ask them to oppose it too.
